I didn't think anyone could fall for this one, but now with one sold I thought maybe I'd show it here to remind folks to pay attention. https://www.ebay.com/itm/286771307314 Usually I note counterfeit coins as that is more educational, but in this case it is a false listing. The photo, title, and overall listing are copied from a real seller and real coin sold. But the coin in the picture is not the coin you will receive (note seller has more than 10 available) and the coin you receive will not be what the title describes but a Chinese counterfeit (note the seller is coming from China). Stay sharp and be careful on the online auctions.

The zero feedback rating should be a red flag also, as well as how many he has in stock.

<sigh> ebay could end all of this nonsense. Easily. Caveat emptor.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

Posts a real coin but an obviously fake auction description. Because of the legit pic ebay really can't do anything!

Their other 4 listing are also using stolen images from ebay sales in the past month, all from greatsoutherncoins with their logo removed.

shameful So, if the real one had sold, and this seller is using his images, I wonder what the 'would-be buyer' be getting. but location: listed as "Located in: Denver, Colorado, China" the other listings..

EBay, doesn't really care, but I told them anyway. And even if they do shut it down, the scammers will just start a new account. Makes buying on ebay scary.

Yes, it is scary, but so is driving during rush hour. You just have to be smart about it!

This is one reason I gave up on the hobby & quit ebay. Have not been on ebay in years. I got tired of seeing people getting ripped off

As stated ebay could give a flying fig! Waste of time reporting any of it . Having just attended ebay Open , coins are not even on the radar . Talked to an ebay rep over lunch about it , the feedback received was Huh?
