Short and sweet, an uncirculated specimen of 1954-S 5¢ FS-801 Doubled Die Reverse, which I think of as "crazy steps". The extremely misaligned steps can be seen above the NT of Monticello.

This nickel was struck by a very worn set of dies. Not too sure why the steps look concave though. But I do see Progressive Indirect Design Transfer

IMO progressive indirect die transfer (look that up at error-ref.com) has interfered with the normal look of the steps. Very nice nickel
