I am new to collecting and have quickly become obsessed! I just found my first strike through error and its going straight to the collection.

It looks like there is an area above the recess that is raised.
That raised area couldn't happen with a "struckthrough".

As the dies strike the planchet, they keep any metal from rising above the coins design.

Can you post a clear close-up of the area in question so we can see the bottom of the depression?
Words of encouragement are one of the major food groups.

It is essential for newbies wanting to discern real errors from the untold millions of damaged coins they will encounter to know the minting and die making process.
Damaged coins often have people wondering if they are valuable error coins. To escape being fooled by simple damage, a person need, at a minimum, to know the minting and die making processes. :D

I'd like to see a clearer reverse photo. It looks like PMD to me, but a clearer picture would help.
