This coin has multiple major errors. The reverse of a Roosevelt dime was muled with a 1942 Mercury dime! Also, the reverse is slightly rotated. And it seems that the collar was faulty and reeding is very weak or absent on the reverse. This could also be from the Roosevelt reverse die not mating well with the Mercury die apparatus.     Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

You would think this Back to the Future mule would have time traveled to use ultrasonic, eutectic, or laser bonding.  It IS the perfect April 1st gift, though. Definitely a needed smile for the day!

That black stuff, from my experience, is certainly George Washington's sneeze juice. The toning of silver is very particular when reacting with his chemical composition. Side note: does this belong in the Classic or Modern forum?!?
