Hey, I came across this bizarre coin.
As I mentioned in the title I have no idea. I thinking PMD but and I mean but, there is a nice shine.
If I may, I would like to share what my research.
The luster seems really nice.
Flow lines, the coin doesn't have a "not cut in feel".
Parallel lines
Blebs?
Maybe Occluded gas bubbles?

An accurate weight--to two decimal places--might tell us more. Thanks.

3.07 grams.

I thought acid too. But wouldn't that remove the finish?
Just curious

It will remove tone, which is why it is red and not brown.

One thing it's not are occulated gas bubbles.
Looking at the parallel lines, it looks like it may have been scrubbed with some sort of acitic liquid.
No matter what the cause, it is damage of some sort.

We all agree that it didn't leave the mint looking like this, but I think that @make just nailed it--looks to me like it spent some time being abraded by a wire brush.
