OK - my last attempt at a DDO didn't go very well! What do ya'll think of the doubling on the ear of this one? I don't see this listed anywhere. Thanks!

It looks like Machine Doubling to me, but I am not 100% sure. If you want to know for sure 100%, you can try submitting it for attribution to Wexler's.

Quote: If you want to know for sure... Thank You, E&V It's certainly not very high relief, so....? I have a couple coins I'm curious about, so I'll probably send it off (soon).

Check out the link to one I posted here quite a while ago, I'm pretty sure mine is a doubled hub, worthless.... I found nearly a whole box of these and sent several examples to doubleddie.com, to Dr. Dan and he may have sent those to Tanner or John for further examination. See if you can see the other doubling that mine has. LINK https://goccf.com/t/462317&SearchTerms=2023

-makecents- Thank You! Yes, mine seems to have the same attributes as the one in your link. Maybe I should stick to nickels - they don't trip me up as often!

Quote: Stick with it Thank You, -makecents- I do enjoy it Funny - I know everyone has gone through this - but I look at coins I put aside 4 or 5 months ago, and have no idea why I thought (at the time) it would be worth looking at again at a later time!

I have a jar I will toss coins into when I find an error or variety, because I'm too lazy to go ahead and card them in a 2x2 sometimes. I'll go through the jar when I have time or when I'm on a bad run with searching to see what I've tossed in there. I will have at least 1 out of 8 or 10 coins I can find no reason to have kept. Depending on how deep I am in mixed drinks could possibly come into play though.

Wow, I do the same thing -makecents-. Now I have several small jars full. There are just too many.

I do the same thing as well. I have a jar 1 each for cents, nickels, dimes, and quarters. (thought about getting more jars to separate by decade, but my house just ain't that big)

When the jar gets full, if I don't go through it (which is most times), it goes in a ziploc baggy. I have several of those. Quote: I do the same thing as well. UPDATE: I actually got this back from John a while ago, but, here's what he wrote: Quote:This was a tough one, but the flat, shelf-like doubling on the ear and back of Lincoln's head make me call this Machine Doubling. I hadn't even noticed the doubling on the back of Lincoln's head!

snailking1, not knocking John, he knows his stuff but I still think this is from a doubled working hub. If you refer back to my link above that I gave you, you will see it is exactly like yours and I found an entire brick of them, not a one off deal like MD usually is. Obviously, Dan from Wexler did not pass this on to John, as I sent Dan a couple of rolls of them.
