Gotta say I love this site with the feedback!!!!
Anyway, busted a 2024 MintDirect 20 coin tube, treasure hunted and put in individual capsules in one sitting. Had 1 ASE with a mark on the sun (sunspot ) I am unsure what it is. Raw eye sight with my old eyes, it looks like a fly speck.
I tried to clean up the photos the best I can.
The last photo is the end of a toothpick next to the spot. Nope I did not use it to scrape at the spot.
I did rub over the spot with gloves.

Hello and Welcome,

I Appreciate the Excellent photos, It Could be a Carbon spot.

The Surrounding areas on Her Flowing Gown Show in the Pleats, The same Necrotic or Blackened Areas Too. If the lighting is correct, The Bottom of said Gown Looks like it Was " banged " around. The Shinier Areas, To be precise. Looks like the Area was " disturbed ".

Photo number 3 tells the story I see Best... Above the date, to the left all the way to the Sun.

Thank you, I will go with carbon spot. I just cannot get in enough to dechiper it or provide good enough pictures for everyone. I will log it under "suspicious until further notice".
I do like the lighting in the 3rd photo, it brings out the scratches, however it does cast a strange hue and responds to reflections bad. Perhaps I need to build a dark box to work in.

Or perhaps stop "overthinking"

You all have been a great help,

Internet info:

" Carbon spots can appear on American Silver Eagles, a common problem for both collectors and investors that can affect coins of all finishes and years. These dark spots are a form of tarnish and are caused by sulfur contamination or other concentrated contaminants, and they can be difficult to remove without damaging the coin's surface."

I've had spots in images that look like a black spot (in the image), but if looked at in person, and with lighting, I've seen that they are actually shiny spots. I assumed by the size and shape that the coin was struck with another coin and made a reflective/shiny spot. In case you haven't tried looking at it with that in mind.

I have not thought about that. Good point to keep in mind. However, this does not seem to be reflecting. When brushing the spot with my finger it does not change color tone.
