I found this 1936-D Mercury dime in coin collection and spotted this possible DDO mint error. What do you guys think on this one?

to the CCF I see a well circulated coin with damage to the date. I'm going to ask a moderator to move this thread to the US classic coins forum for better visibility.

First of all, a DDO is not an error, it is a variety, big difference. Also all I see is damage on your quarter, not doubling. Which variety did you think it is?

Not a DDO. I'm only seeing circulation flattening, wear, and damage. It's silver, so it's a keeper.
Errers and Varietys.

Jimmy,
I'm posting this to get feedback. No need to respond that way.

The bar your arrow points to in the third photo. A well placed hit? I am not so sure. It is worth keeping for the discussion, even if it proves to just be damage.

That's the thing I was curious about with this Mercury dime... I haven't seen that before on any of them... So I was thinking if was some kind of variety or something. I am still new to coin collecting.

I agree. No one has commented on that directly and I am not sure what it can be other than a hit, even if I am not convinced it is.

Three out of the four digits in the date have them and they all point toward the rim. I suspect that they are signs that this coin was struck from a tired die.

maybe DDD on the date, along with a die dent on the 3.

Interesting thoughts. I suppose it could be.
