This was at my LCS. It tested correctly on their sigma tester and the weight is correct.

To my eye, it looked fine, but given its rarity is there anything which looks off? I am aware that there are a few scratches left of Liberty, so it may not straight grade. If good they will likely have it slabbed and auctioned.

I have no skin in this game, in case anyone is wondering, so you can't disappoint me!

Looks like a nice original Liberty Seated dollar to me. Very unfortunate about the indentation on Liberty's arm and the scratches/graffiti

My compliments to PCGS for including so much info on this coin
Even after reading it all...I have no idea?
If it's real...what a coin!
And I thought VAM'ers were weird (no offence)
The obverse PMD is a bummer...but if it's the real deal...wow!
If you're interested in buying this...I would "try" and make a deal with the shop and offer a 50% discount that you'd pay for the authentication if she comes back good if you pay for her to be sent out. If she comes back bunk...you're out...what? $50
If she comes back good...you're up a couple hundo...
Just a thought
On coins like this...with no obvious no's...I'd gamble!
Let's see what other's have to say?

Authentic. Surfaces look terrible - in the photos.
Should be sent in, slabbed coins do better at auction.

Looks authentic to me, the mintmark and date look correct. Probably details from the right arm damage and scratches.

Thanks for the comments; they confirm what my inexperienced eye suggested. Yes, it's a pity that it's a bit bunged up.

This is not one that I am looking to acquire (at least not at its expected sale price!).

A slabbing and a US auction are the best bet, I agree. Our local market would be unlikely to attract enough attention. But since we are in Canada there are some complications. I was told that there are insurance limitations.

a fine looking example, the marks on the arm look to be fairly old, but the scratches on the fiends look newer..
