$50. #17 of 35 Morgans purchased recently. Kind of feel like I've done this for more than 17 days... Tried to orient the coin so that the face of liberty is better lit. Thoughts? Thanks!

Lib's cheek looks a little rough, but blemishes do not appear to be nicks or scratches.

The time she spent in that envelope may be why I'm seeing a bit of rub here and there. This coin could well be the "gem" assigned on the envelope. I'll go MS65, but the photos don't show enough to make a PL call. Nice coin!

Could be one of the "high date" varieties, but I can't zero-in on the exact VAM from the pics. Looks like a spike on the 1 perhaps.

The "1" in the date is sharply doubled. I think I can see doubling in the top loops of at least the first "8," and maybe both "8"s. The bumps on the cheek may be from a rusted die. I don't know what to make of the protrusion or nick below the second "8." Just a hunch for a starting point, but this may be either VAM-4 or VAM-5.

If the cheek is a relic of a rusted die, IMHO this coin is an easy MS-65. The remaining contact marks are few and far between, and some of the other marks are die clashing.

This is a very nice coin.

I think the photos still have too much shadow. Some of the pictures you took earlier in this run were a bit less shadowy, at least to me. I would agree that it is probably a gem.

i think there is more going on with the obv than we can see through the glare and shadowing. MS63ish
