This is my second coin purchase of 2026. Also an upgrade, this time for my capped bust half date set. I love the VF example currently there but when I saw this one I had to have it. I think this is O-109 as it has the wide date and the position of the 4 in the date is definitive for this variety. Let me know if I got it wrong. Thoughts? Thanks!

Newbie to grading question for the experts:

I am seeing some 'rub' on the cheek and nose in the form of a discoloration between greys of the obverse. Is this rub that would indicate that the coin has been circulated or does it indicate something else such as lighting for the photograph?

Lovely coin BTW.

That's a fun one, congrats on the pickup! I like the shark fins on liberties cap. It doesn't get much better than that regarding the surfaces, so 64's good as anything.

NS, is this raw or slabbed?

Thanks for the all the kind comments.

@LeroyZ - not really an expert - a student - but my take is that what you are seeing could be rub, or a shadow or the lit vs dark portion of a reflection, kind of how when a coin cartwheels, there are dark and lit portions on the coin. It is difficult to tell from a photo for everyone. Sometimes there is a difference in the texture of the surface and that helps but doesn't seem to be the case here.

@adam - yes, it is in a slab and I will post the TPG grade in a couple of days.

Not sure why this is a 3 as opposed to any other mint state grade.
