I'm hoping you will give me some help with a grade on this one, as I am horrible at grading. I know there are some scars on the face but fairly clean otherwise. -makecents-

I'd say MS-62. Hit on the cheek at the back of the eye seems deep. Lots of other chatter consistent with the grade.

Nice frosty luster and it has the bright look of one of the silver rush 1904-O bag find UNCs. The die breaks might make this one an interesting VAM. The mantra I keep coming back to for UNC coins is the depth, location, and number of the contact marks. Here, there are a lot of small contact marks on the central devices, and fewer in the fields. Three of the obverse marks are particularly noticeable, and two of them are deep. On the reverse, the knock on the eagle's breast is less obvious, but still deep. I've seen coins like this in MS-63 slabs, but regardless of how a TPG would see this one, I'm at MS-62 on a bourse floor. It's still a nice coin for the date.

Thank you, psuman08 and fortcollins! As bad as I am at grading, I was thinking low MS because of the gouges. fortcollins, I have several that are unfortunately in the same boat, frosty but one or more gouges and chatter that are probably going to drag them down.

I'm at 63. The lack of chatter on the rest of the coin is minimal while the hits on the temple and cheek keep it from anything higher.

Thanks, guys! I will put up a few more in the next few days as I have time. cointagous, I left you a link on another post you had a question about spooned coins. If you go through the thread in the link I left, it will show you different stages as to how a coin is spooned. Link to the other thread. https://goccf.com/t/487623

weak for the year. broken luster. the gouge on the cheek is most concerning for grading. typically if they displace metal and are in a key area it can cause a 98 designation for damage. I think its borderline and they probably would just knock the grade
MS62

63 without the face ding. Could even see a 61 with it.
