As far as the toning goes it shines through the cartwheel. It's not floating on top

Its been in the original envelope from a 1964 sms. Just recently taken out for this. But I'll talk to my coin guy when I get a chance.

Can you please explain how a 1988 American Silver Eagle be in a 1964 SMS envelope?
ASE's don't come in, Nor have they ever been placed into a mint set with other circulation type coins such as quarters and the rest.
I say somebody is pulling something here.

That's a neat trick. There were NEVER any 1964 SMS sets sold. Ever. Period. They never existed.

It would have been (or would be!) so cool if they did! They came close to it with the Premier sets, but never put the Eagle in those. I've also seen 20th Century type sets with a spot for an Eagle, which seems odd to me.
The closest I can think of would be the Limited Edition Silver Proof Set, which is a stretch, since it's only silver currency, so no cent or nickel, or the Annual Uncirculated Dollar sets, at least the other coins aren't silver, but only the dollar coins, nothing else.

There's something you guys don't know about me, I have epilepsy. And I started having a seizure when someone commented and said it's fake. It's a sentimental coin to me, got it from my mom last year when she passed. Stress triggers my seizures, I'll continue a conversation and not even know I had one. Thanks to CBD oil. I said some false things in the comments when it happened. The coin is NOT magnetic for one. And when I said it's been in a 1964 sms envelope, that's where my mom had put it some time after she got it. I know it wasn't in there since 64. When I go into a seizure it's like I'm blacked out drunk. Lights are on but no one's home. I am disabled and go to UCSF in San Francisco. So my apologies hope this makes things better

Our only input to respond to what you say is what you tell us in the written words you post here.

We are not sitting around the family dinner table able to gauge your body language with a known prior history of reactions.

I wish you the best with managing your epilepsy condition - but for myself I am departing this discussion.

Take care. Be Well.

To be honest it won't grade well, and getting it graded is probably more expensive than you realize.
I'd take to to a coin shop to
A. Get it authenticated
B. Get a direct fit capsule to put it in so you can both enjoy it and protect it, since it has sentimental value. Even if it were graded and slabbed, it still sir if lacks that original round feeling, not as enjoyable to hold.

Based on that whole reply he gave, I'm leaning towards that he meant to say non magnetic, but yes he did say that.
I still think the best if to have a coin shop just try a scale, caliper and the other tester, that "Ray gun thing". Spectrometer? Just to be sure.
I guess if it has sentimental value, it would still be worth the 50 cents or whatever for a capsule.
One stop to verify it and protect it.
I'd still maintain it isn't worth grading it. No return on the money. Nothing.
