My CCF participation is very likely to slow down or stop for a while. I damaged my right elbow and the two ligaments that wrap over the outside of my elbow have been torn from the bone. A surgeon is going to repair them on Monday (3/09). He is going to open the elbow, attach cadaver ligaments to the two torn ends, pull them back over my elbow and re-attach them to the bone. That does not sound pleasant. He explained that my right arm will be fully immobilized against my chest for 2 weeks, following by ~2 months of PT to regain full range of motion followed by more PT to regain strength. I don't know if I'm going to be able to type (I'm right handed). I'll do my best to check in with you folks - but if I'm absent you know the reason. I can't work in my workshop, I can't teach the 3 beginner woodworking courses I normally teach and I might not be able to speak with you. On the bright side - I'll become a well read retired guy. I'm also putting together my 15,000 post contest, so looking forward to hosting you shortly. Take care. David

Good luck with your surgery and a speedy recovery. Perhaps you can use AI assistant to speak/type, thought I haven't check into that area much to suggest which to used.

Good luck with your surgery, should go well. I had shoulder surgery last May then severly strained it moving my brother's things out of his house, had to put him in nursing home. My shoulder is slowly getting better again so be careful not to over use your elbow while recovering. My wife has had two neck surgeries with cadaver bones put in. I've told people I'm a polygamist with those other people's bones but I'll never know if they are male or female LOL.

nickelsearcher, long long ago at the age of 19 I broke my right wrist in an ugly fashion. It required external fixation and casts for 4 months. It's surprising what you can learn to do with your non-dominant hand - typing is one of them. Hopefully you'll be here on the CCF more than you're currently predicting.

Did rotator cuff surgery several years ago. Got pretty good typing with my left hand. Stay away from pushups...

As a veteran of seven orthopedic surgeries since 2012, I can tell you that your rehab will be critical to long term success. But I'm sure you already know that - do what the doc says! I was committed to therapy and full return to duty, and all have been completely successful. I pray that you have a smooth procedure and quick recovery. I tell people that when I'm cremated, I'll look something like this:

Somehow I read this as eyebrow surgery and wondered why does the arm have to be immobilized...elbow makes sense......cheers to a speedy recovery.

Best wishes vibes coming your way. I agree with the others, nail, glue in your case, , the physio. And you'll get good being a southpaw too. Gotta get 'er heeled up for the walkabout.

Long day but I'm home from surgery. Right elbow is repaired but at least for 2 weeks in a cast with zero arm mobility.
Learning now on the fly to type as a southpaw
Good to learn that I'm able to stay in touch
Appreciate the coin family good wishes thank you for them
