US coins without a mint mark were minted in Philadelphia. Yours looks to be in AU55-58 condition. There is slight rub above the ear and on the eagle's breast. I'd put the current market price at around $18. I moved this topic to the Main Coin Forum.

Sorry, I had stepped away from the computer. This coin is only in AG condition and I would not pay more than bullion value for it (about $10).

there are alot of morgan collectors here including me and to tell you the truth about the 1921-P it is the least valuable coin of all the morgans, that being said there are also alot of vams for the whole 1921 series from all mints only to be out numbered by the 1878 which was the first year of mintage. And for the 1891-O morgan it is probably worth about 11 bucks because I would give it a grade of almost good to good, it has been circulated quite a bit and is not a "key date" to start with but in high grades it can bring a good chunk of change but in badly circulated like yours it doesn't do very well. Another note about the 1921, I think it has been dipped sometime ago because it lacks the luster and cartwheel that the coin should have (I am not positive just stating my opinion)

I know I am asking an extreme amount of questions but I have just like 2 more. When you say like AU-58 what do you mean? Also what does VAM mean. And one more. How much do you think this particular coin is worth? Its a 1896o Thank you all so much!

First of all, don't ever hesitate to ask questions. We love to help and it helps others learn also. That's the purpose of this forum. AU means About Uncirculated. On the Sheldon scale this grade includes 50, 53, 55, and 58. The grade is designated as AU50, AU53, AU55, and AU58. Take a look here for some information on Morgan dollars, grading, mintages, etc. You can find our Coin Histories pages by looking in the Navigation box on the left and clicking on it. We have quite a bit of information on this site besides the forum and we're adding to it all the time. I believe your 1896-O dollar is in Very Fine++ or VF30 condition. There is a little too much actual wear on the breast feathers and hairlines for an Extremely Fine grade in my opinion. This is keeping in mind that New Orleans struck coins tend to have softer strikes above the ear and on the breast feathers. VAM's are varieties of Morgan and Peace dollars. Leroy Van Allen and A. George Mallis identified many varieties and are considered the authority in this area. VAM came from the last name initials of both of these men.

Sorry, I thought I had included that info in my post, but I forgot. I would say that a fair price would be around $20 for this coin.

the 1896-O is worth about 11 bucks in VF condition which I think this coin is, if it were just a couple steps up to AU it would be worth around 100 bucks. On some coins the price jumps up considerable with each grade as you can see in this example. But I wouldnt pay more than bullion prices for the coins you are showing us in this thread. I am a morgan collector but I only collect Mint State coins, I dont collect circulated coins and I am not very good at grading circulated coins for that fact.
