I do not own a single Shield nickel, used to have them and regret selling them. They really went up in value.
Yours are great looking coins! I especially admire the full strike in the bars of the shield and lines in the columns. That detail seems to be the first to wear.
I only plan on finding one. A nice one like yours for my type set.
Nice coins!

I'm not so sure about the cleaning. High-grade Shield nickels often have steel-like color similar to the 1882 coin. Both coins appear to have strong AU-50 detail and I don't see any significant hairlines or other defects. I'd be happy to have them in my collection!

Thanks for all the comments! I was thinking both were in the AU range, glad to see I'm starting to learn how to grade this series.

Funny how the stars are more detailed and the shield is weaker on the first one and just the opposite on the second. It must have something to do with die wear or grease and debris on the dies.
Either way, you do have some high grade nicks there!
