Yes they are considered common years, but this doesn't mean they are not still a good find. Dont forget to check for rotated reverses.
Could I ask for a better pic of the 04? Just for giggles...

Nice gift from the in-laws, looks like you got the beginnings of a nice IHC collection.

I cant really get in close as it just blurs into junk, but this is what I was seeing when you first posted. Sorry about the confusion, on the bottom of the two 04's in your original post. Pardon if I am junking up your thread with a goose chase as it may just be crud. But it would be a cool little bit of striking if it is the coin and not crud. Just crud, or not? Really cant make it out in the pics.

Hahah, good call. I didnt even think about the MM, just figured it would be a given. I forget EVERYONE doesn't collect pennies.
Just in case.
The MM when present is on the Reverse at bottom under the bow in the wreath.

No mintmark and nothing but crud on the 04. Picked it off with a toothpick. Thanks for taking a look though. Guess I'll just put them up somewhere until I decide what to do with them. I've had these for about 6 months along with the wheaties and this is the first I have looked at them. I'm more of a dollar, nickel, quarter and commemorative type guy. And Mercury dime.

This just occured to me. They have been my inlaws for 25 years and as long as I have known them they have been putting their cents that they get in change into one of those 5 gallon water jugs. They are about halfway through their second one. I bet there are all kinds of varieties in there. I know there are wheaties in there as you can see a bunch of them. Never really occured to ask what they are going to do with them.

If you use a thorn, or a thorn from a rose bush, you can clear a lot of that crud away from the digits in the date, and look for RPD's, (Re-puinched-dates) One of the '04's seems to have a possibility. Good luck, and enjoy your new "collection"! They all look like mine, so I know what your possibilities are in finding RPD's, or clashes. Dick
