Poll Question
Question: Does anyone still find silver in pocket change anymore? Yesterday I found a 1968(silver) quarter in my change. Previously I found 2(not 1 but 2)1949 quarters(silver of course) (These are all Canadian) The one problem I have is,whenever I'm out I pocket all the change I get back,on to the next store, don't use any change but break a new bill, etc.THE PROBLEM ! When I get home I don't know what change came from what store! As is what happened above.I've got to learn to do a "quick glance" before moving on.I WISH I KNEW WHERE THESE QUARTERS CAME FROM I would have gone back and YOU KNOW!One more thing then I'll quit rambling on (I"M MAD AT MYSELF) Also found a 1978 uncirculated 1 cent(Canadian) AND a 1909 Lincoln penny(VG shape) Do any of you have any unusual/rare "Pocket change"finds?

Yes still quite frequently.
Dime more than the others. I am Stateside, but it seems the 64 dimes still pop up often for me.

I'm not too surprised to hear that folks north of the border are still finding silver occasionally, as we here in the States have the disadvantage of having all post 1964 dimes and quarters (halves too but they don't circulate) with a copper edge. This way silver sticks out like a sore thumb! In Canada, of course, since except for a slightly different silver color the silver coins don't stick out at all.

I was passed off a 1961 Canadian 10 Cent in my change @ a Starbucks up here about 2 weeks ago. I am one of those compulsive coin collectors that quickly glance through my change while still in line looking for gold mines. I immedialtey spotted it and said to the girl, 'Hey, you gave me a silver coin', she replied in an apologetic manner, I'm sorry can I give you another one?. She had no idea of the small premium they bring, and I did quickley explain to her the pre 1968'1969 rule. The one she gave me was probably no more than a Fine grade. Anyway, I can say that the coin star machines have been trained to intercept these coins up in Canada.I read this a couple years back.

Hmmmmm. Seems like most of you are doing better than I am. Living in Ajax,Ontario we have A LOT of coin collectors here. Tough to find anything good/better. Even rolls from various banks are mostly producing NIL.

I managed to get a 1954 dime in change, maybe a month or so back. I'd consider it a pretty rare event these days. The good news is there are still quite a few pre-1982 (pure nickel) nickels out there that you can pull out of your change, and start building a nickel mountain ;o)
