I collected key chains when I was a kid. They gathered a lot of dust and I kind of just grew out of it.

I never really cared for all that hi tech crap. I still have all my Lps from when I was younger and occasionally pick them up at yard sales. I probably have over 10,000 45's. (just in case I get tired of the 80 on my juke!

I collected sports cards as a kid. Now they just sit in big box in my basement. I'd sell them, but it seems like a lot of work. Maybe I'll just give them to my sons to fight over.
My other hobby now is fishing. Outside of replacing lures that I lose and buying a yearly fishing licence I put very little money into it.

I could spend days going through all those old records man..some years ago now in the UK I was out of work , a serious recession in the 80's. Well a few of us pooled our dough and bought up records everywhere we could , loads of it , enough to fill a garage over time.We bought an old van and hit the road doing whats called Record fairs , a bit like a flea market but limited to music and associated items , t shirts and limited edition stuff. It was so cool..different city each morning , we made some good money. You'll no doubt know those records hold a very good value to a collector.

I had about 20,000 sports cards before I got married....baseball, football, hockey, racing...many large boxes of them...they really took up a lot of room. After I got married I had to move a few times for my job. My wife kept complaining about having to move all these boxes of cards all the time. One day she said "either the cards go or I go"! Neeless to say I still have the cards! Just kidding...I got the keepers down to a large plastic storage container and gave the rest to Goodwill. I still look through the ones I kept from time to time. No urge to buy more with all the stuff going on in pro sports now.

I wish mine would've taken the cards instead of my Eagle and Double Eagle. (I too have loads of cards that in my opinion, the paper could have been used better as toilet paper). Out of the 20 lg boxes I have filled, Maybe 1 would be a keeper.

I collected keys. Yes keys, house, lock, vending, car, skeleton, every key I could find went on a big ring. My mother would take me to yard sales & garage sales. If there were keys there I was sure to come home with some. About 3000 plus. My step father lost his car keys and after searching for an hour or so finally asked if he could see me keys & maybe one might work. Well, to his surprise & mine there were his keys. Shortly after that my Mom & him divorced because of where I found the keys. Which he could not explain. Well, that was when I put my keys away and didn't look back. Being a child our thought process is different. I felt if I didn't collect those keys he wouldn't of been caught & my Mom's heart wouldn't of been broken.

I purposely collected Military memorabilia for many years, but finally quit as it was running me out of my house. Then it was guns, but that's gone by the wayside, too. Now it's coins, but I've always halfway collected those. Oh, and I seem to be collecting ex-wives, too.

My wife says that there is a fine line between collector and pack rat. I have always seemed to start collections anytime that I would wind up with multiples of something of interest. My main interest prior to his death was Dale Earnhardt stuff. (I have a chest full of die casts, pictures, caps, newspaper articles, cereal boxes, etc.
My coin collecting began as child with my grandfather. I do not have any "high end" pieces but I do have a large variety. My two sons that are still at home also have an interest and we go to local shows and clubs from time to time.
