I doubt that it's authentic, they didn't make a 1864-C Seated Liberty dollar coin. The "C" must stand for copy.

Clearly a fake, with poorly-executed date digits and a CC mintmark which of course was not present on any genuine 1864 dollars.

Sorry for the bad news (hopefully you did not invest any money in this coin!). Nevertheless, welcome to the forum!

A little bit of Seated Liberty facts:

Seated Liberty dollars were minted from 1840-1873.

All SLDs were minted in Philadelphia except for New Orleans (O mint mark) in 1846 (59,000 minted), 1850 (40,000), 1859 (360,000) & 1860 (218,930 business strikes, 1,330 proofs), Carson City (CC) in 1870 (11,758, 1,000 proofs), 1871 (only 1,376), 1872 (9,000) & 1873 (2,300)and San Francisco (S) in 1870 (maybe...unknown quantity) and 1873 (also maybe, if any, in VERY limited quantity, none are known in any collection).

Charlotte N.C., WAS a US mint and did use a C as a mint mark but it never made Seated Liberty dollars.

I'm sorry but I agree with the other posters, your coin appears to be fake.

(It also appears like it may have some rust on it. And, as we all know, silver doesn't rust...)

As an added note, the "C" mintmark for Charlotte was only used on gold coins dated 1838-1861.
A seller on ebay tried selling an 1864 CC dollar (for $1,000,000.00) and was E-bombed by members of this forum regarding it's authenticity. It was quickly removed.
