I've been reading the posts on here the last few months of all of the members that have found one (or more) of these, and I have been envious! I've been through 10,200 rolls, and after having checked every 1990D that I have come across haven't found a one. UNTIL NOW!

Heavily circulated, but just happy to have finally found one!

Let me be the first to congratulate you!

It's not like finding an 1885 V nickel but your example is as good as any I've seen. And I've seen two.
I only have one now, I forget what I did with that other one?
It went out somehow through the forum, trade maybe?

Let's find a couple 1946 D over inverted D and 1953 D over inverted D nickels now.
I'm on that trail.

Wheezy,

Well, I hope you find that missing 90D! I bet if you look hard enough it might pop back into your life any day now! And I will be on the lookout for those two varieties.
Rest in Peace

numismo,

I'm not really sure. There isn't a certified one in the Heritage archives, and I've seen one on ebay, but I have read about it before, and at one time it was highly sought after. Wheezydog might know more about the value of it than I, but I don't think it would be time to consider retirement upon finding one!

No I did something with the other, I had two, I have one left to keep.
I think that one in VF or XF is probably worth between $10.00 and $15.00
A Gem BU with nice strike and absolutely no trace of FS initials? Well, probably plenty more.

I don't consider this any more than a curiosity as all it probably is from is grease and metal dust compacted on the die which filled the initials. But they have some popularity so we will accept them, won't we? Just for what they are.
