Here's the last coin I picked up at the estate sale I went to this weekend. I'm not into this series but was pretty sure this was one of the key dates so I bought it. I'm looking for grading opinions. I'm probably going to resell this one so I'm also looking for opinions on what I could reasonably expect to sell it for. Aside from the obvious scratches, it's got something a little funky going on in front of Liberty's forehead. I don't know if it's a planchet flaw or what, but it looks slightly porous.

I would have to say it is G6 as LIBERTY is not obliterated (G4) but 3 letters are not readable (VG8) Looks like a $250.00 nickel to me. Congrats! Better than most you find in complete sets.

I go with VG as well, though a strict grader might call it G4, because some books say you have to see three letters of Liberty to get VG rating.

I think it might just make VG-8, I'm still looking for one of these to complete the series.

I can barely see parts of "LIBERTY" on the forehead. Technically, it can score VG based on how many letters appear in "LIBERTY". I barely see any so I'd have to go with wheezydog here and say G-6.

Actually I edited my post as I think I should have said G6 rather than VG6 as VG starts at 8

Here's a pic of my 1886 V nickel: Wheezydog! Are you saying this is a $250+ nickel? Really? I don't get it...

Yeah 1886 is the number 2 key date in the series. Even AG3 and G4 1886 and 1885 nickels get at least 100.00 Congrats, I hope you have a roll! Look it up in your coin book and by all means get it protected properly. Don't mess with it. It's a good one. Oh and you are supposed to check your email from earlier and reply to me. Not about this though, something else Moe. Moe yours is VG10 I bet. You don't have LIBERTY complete but easily have 3 letters showing. Do you have 1885? That is worth about 2 x as much!

I do have an 1885 but it's a little bit worse for wear...

Great pickup on that 1886. I do agree it might make VG8 although there are some scratches. Hey Moe145, nice 1885 in any grade. Rare coin. I'd say yours has VG10 details, corroded.

Why did I know you would have that 1885 too? Lets see your 1912 S next. Oh what the heck, while you are at it, show us a 1913 Liberty as well! Nice set I bet if these are your key date conditions!

Yeah that one Moe ... you disgust me! Sorry for hijacking the post a bit from trdhrdr007 but now we know what the key dates are anyways. All nice coins as far as these go. Nothing to be ashamed of. Moe's three coins together could probably fetch around $700 or more. I would think.
