Possibly exposed to a heat source. That's my guess.

I would bet it has laid face up in a house with smokers and the person probably wiped it off. The field would probably come pretty clean but the camero would hold the smoke stain.Just a guess.

somebody s trying to figure out how to bring out the tone of the bust only so they can sell them on ebay or somewhere else as oddities. that is just a guess but it make more sense to me.
