One interesting point on coin number three - the Spanish Peseta is that the coin is DOUBLE dated. The 1963 that shows very clearly under the head of General Franco may or MAY NOT be the actual date of mintage. The real date is found incuse on the two stars that are placed in front and behind the word UNA on the other side of the coin. The Krause catalog lists the date as 1963(63 or 64 etc.) The scarcest one is the 67.

If the stars are worn and the date can not be read - the coin is technically not dated and is considered of minimal value.

Mmmm. I like the Icelandic one at 18. Shame about the spotting but the reverse has a lovely colour.

The older I get, more and more Spanish coins are undated.

As for the Spanish peseta coin, the date in the stars could be anything between 19-63 and 19-67, but the date may well be recognizable: While the picture is a bit blurry, having the piece itself and a good magnifying glass should help.

6. Federal Republic of Germany 5 Deutsche Mark copper-nickel

1975 was the first year of those CuNi issues - earlier ones (different design) were silver. And D is the Munich, BY mintmark.

Quote:
19. Federal Republic of Germany 1 pfennig bronze

Note that 1950 is not only the first year when that coin was issued but also a frozen date: This particular piece was made some time between 1950 and 1965. The material is copper-plated steel. F is the mintmark of Stuttgart, BW.
