It is really hard to put a value on a coin that has been severely damaged. Even with VF details, I don't see the coin as being worth any more than $100. In other words, the hole kills 90%+ of the value on a coin like that.
That's a very unfortunate defect for what was a valuable coin. It's anyone's guess what it might sell for now. The right buyer might pay a couple hundred but likely Biokemist is correct: $100 could be a reasonable expectation for maximum sale price.
Thanks for the help, thoughts. I paid $100.00 for it so I am pleased. Tough to afford some coins like this one, so just happy to own one. Hope I can return the favor some day. Jim
Ah! I was the under bidder on that coin! At least a forum member got it. For me, I would rather spend $100 on a holed coin than a couple hundred for an extremely worn down market acceptable AG one. Jim, could you post pictures when you get it?
