I just purchased a 1999 S silver Kennedy half that was graded by PCGS.
The only reason I bought it was that it was one of two coins I need to bring my Uncir Dansco 8166 up to date and the price was actually better than trying to buy a regular 1999 silver proof.
My question is, does anyone ever take these out of the holders and put them in their Dansco albums?

I am pretty sure this is gonna be a touchy subject,,just remember I am a noobie. I have no coins shops in 125 miles of here so can't buy or ask questions there lol. Me and this forum as well as the internet are fast becoming best buddies.

As Always thanks in advance,

Mike

I have no problem removing coins from holders ,slabs or other wise to put in my albums if that was the intended purpose.

I do however have several hundred coins which will never leave the airtites they are stored in .

if you look at my signature you will see a link to my dansco 7070 album and on the back cover (if you scroll all the way down) you will see allot of labels glued to the back cover, all of those labels used to be in slabs along with the coins they are describing. So to answer your question I have no problem cracking a slab to put it in my albums and actually prefer them that way if that is the reason for buying that particular coin

It's pretty common to remove slabbed coins from the holders, actually. Many refer to this as "cracking slabs".

I have not personally done this, but I see no problem with breaking it open as long as that was my original intent. Most of us here would rather see the hole filled than a big empty spot looking back at us. What makes it better, is that it sounds like you got the coin below the actual listed price, sounds like a win, win situation me.

If you want to start a Dansco album, unless the coin is an incredible key rarity, I say go for it. Just be careful as you may cause damage to the coin if not careful. Let's see pictures when you are done!
