Hi everybody, I hope I haven't missed a previous topic regarding this, and I'm still new to coin collecting, but I cant seem to,or have maybe over looked it,any info about the 2 dollar US bill, and also the Susan B Anthony. A friend gave me the 2 dollar bill,it's dated1976, and is in still brand new condition.I haven't seen one in years, and I was just thrilled to receive it. Could someone please give me some info on it.I'm just curious about the SBA,I didn't find anything about it in coin histories, but again I could be looking in the wrong place.thanks in advance for your help.sn31.

well you will get a better responce in the main forum , but depending on the condition of the 2 doller bill the federal reserve bank that issued it usully would present different values now in this case all 12 FRB are eaqual in price in cu(crisp uncirculated) they are worth $3.00 in Ch.CU(choice crisp uncirculated)they are worth $4.00 unless they have a star at the end of the serial number then they could be worth considerable more and that would differ from fed reserve Bank as well as far as the SBA. Depends on condition and Mint mark(like the federal reserve banks)in this case Philly Denver and SanFransico (wich is usually based on mintage figures ) but as a whole on the Average From $1.00 to 5.00 depending on Grade now there are exceptions ... you need to post a pic if possible and I can do my best on that and Mint mark (P,D,S)

What is the point of the $2 bill? It's not widely used or anything. I'm surprised they are still being produced.

I get about 20-30 $2.00 bills from the bank every week, some with sequential numbers. they arent rare or anything unless like stated they are a "star" note but they are fun to collect, and even more fun trying to spend on at the local convenience store with the foreigners and teenagers in there. Most of the yung people and foreigners have never seen the $2.00 bill because you never see them in circulation. As for the SBA's go, well I have about 110 rolls of uncirculated SBA's in a safe deposit box (one of which is in the pot for the 1000th member giveaway). they arent rare or anything except for the few dates like the 1879-S and the 1981-S type2 (clear s) they hold a pretty higher premium but the only way to get them is to bust open a type2 proof set. I have both 79-s and 81-s proof sets (type1 and type2) and the type2 is by far the most expensive of just about any other proof sets I have

I had no idea the 2 dollar bill is so easy to come by,like I said I haven't seen any in years. I also wasn't aware the SBA went back so far in date. Thanks for the education.2 dollars won't get ya to far anymore, nto even a gallon of gas,but I'll keep looking for a star note.fun fun.sn31.

I always thought the point (with the recent issues, anyway) was that you were supposed to stop using the $1 notes, use the Sackie coins instead and have the $2 as your smallest note. I'm surprised the $1 note was still being produced while they were trying to introduce a $1 circulating coin. The 1976 ones were a commemorative issue for the bicentenary. 200 years, 200 cents... I guess it made sense at the time.

The dollar coins will never work and be doomed to failure unless the feds stop producing the 1 dollar note.
