How are you coin sellers mailing your coins? If I want to minimize my cost and still be protected from claims that the coin was never received, what is the best choice?

I am using the small Flat-Rate box from the USPS for heavy items which seems to be as cheap as you can get: $4.80 including Delivery Confirmation (when postage is purchased on-line). If I'm selling just a single coin, is there an equivalent choice? I don't think the USPS provides Delivery Confirmation for a simple envelope; they want a carton at least 3/4" thick for that option.

Thoughts/advice? Thanks!

If you must have DC, First Class postage on a small padded mailer thickened to 3/4" with bubble wrap works nicely. You can print the postage online through PayPal and DC is only 19 cents. For anything over 13 ounces(the First Class limit) up to 70lbs, a Small Flat Rate Priority Mail box is the bee's knees

I have used cardboard to thicken regular envelopes to the point that delivery confirmation can be used. The postal regulations are clear that after a certain thickness, DC can be applied. The postal employees, however, are inconsistent in their understanding of this. By this method, you can send by first class mail for less than $2.

I have also read about a company, known as shipsurance, which offers competitive insurance rates. I have never used them, but probably will in the future.

I am wondering if postage can be printed from paypal for non-eBay transactions...

With members of the CCF, I use a #000 padded envelope and 2 stamps and mail it. If it's a fLeaeBay sale, same method but with delivery confirmation. That cuts out all the rif raf for someone that says they never received it but actually did.

I have lots of old envelopes for the gold coins. But the flat rate for the heavy silver order is the way to go. I pay the extra $2 for SIGNATURE CONFIRMATION, and offer insurance to buyer. But its buyers responsibility to pay for insurance.

Signature confirmation has never let me down.
For GOLD I pay the extra $10 for Registered Mail.

You can also get these....
4" X 6" Clear Small Bubble Pouch Mailer Bag

And then put it in a flat rate envelope or box. Whichever works.
