Here are 2 71 D nickels I have a question about. I think the first one show Die Deterioration. Is there a notch on the 2nd one that would be a RPM ?

The second one looks like it might be an upright D over a slightly tilted D but I don't think it is something to get very excited about. It almost appears like it could have several punches.
I am not exactly sure. I think that is the whole trick to collecting RPM's
Those that are unquestionable and sharp obvious RPM's tend to get your attention and would have much more demand.

Does anyone know of a site that would have pictures of a strong 1971 D RPM and mint mark varieties so I could compare with my coin?

I have an older publication that list one for this year and it is not that one. Hang onto it for now. New publications are coming out all the time.
