I have not filled the dollar commemorative slot in my type set because I could not decide which coin to put in there. After reading a lot of your post on here I have decided that Dolley Madison would look great next to my Silver eagle and under Susan and Sacagawea.

I want it in a UNC coin, I have been to four coin shops and none had any .. UNC or proof. I may have to break down and set up a paypal account so can shop on ebay.

Is this coin so popular that no one is selling them?

the dolley madison coin is a beautiful coin. I had no trouble finding a proof version but I had a little trouble finding an uncirculated example. I don't think they are that hard to find though.

The Unc version had a lower mintage than the Proof (89,104 vs. 224,403) so it is probably a bit harder to find.

i think you should get them both I bought the proof version first and I liked it so much I bought the uncirculated one as well. but if you only need one for your type set and the uncirculated version would look better then get that one.

That's a really nice coin. Maybe a lot of people hang on to them. I actually saw one nearby to my home. Google "Lincoln Stamp and Coin" and maybe ask them if they have it still. It may have been on the auction wall, can't remember. But the price was way reasonable. I almost bought it myself.

Thanks dollarcoins ,, I have been meaning to check out the coast to coast site.
It so happen that I got a paypal account set up this past weekend and the first thing I bought was a Dolley Madison set Proof and UNC. I got them for $60 delivered also got a Columbus dollar and half for $28.80 delivered. I hope they are nice when they get here. I have been putting different commemorative dollars in my type set .. Ben Franklin .. Jamestown ... right now I have Mount Rushmore. I think I will be happy when I get the Dolley.

Good job, GoldRush58. The prices you got these coins seem very good to me.

I got some commemorative coins from ebay, too. (The seller, LCCOINS, regularly offers a complete listing of commemorative coins (PCGS certified) for bidding. Sometimes, you can get it at a reasonable price.)

Most of my coins were bought in November and December of the year. During the holiday season, my job is not so busy. Thus, I can participate in bidding at the ebay. (However, the bidding price is relatively higher during these days. My wife calls me holiday season coin collector. When I spread my coins on my desk, she knows the holiday is coming.)

ebay seems to have worked good so far. After checking these are the first coins I have bought since 2001.

I really really like the Dolley Madison UNC, it is the first one I have held in my hand, I think it is much better than just seeing the pics of her. When I get done with this post I am going to swap out the Mount Rushmore and put her in my 7070 type set.

The Dolly Madison is a stunning and popular commemorative coin and as other's have said the uncirculated on usually costs more then the proof unless you get lucky.
