Hi Everyone!

I was at the bank today and the teller here mentioned that someone had cashed in 100 rolls of half dollars. I plan to slowly work my way through as many of the rolls as I can get my hands on but I have never really collected halves.

I was wondering if anyone can either give me a list of what to look for or direct me to a good site with error/variety images that I can compare to.

any help will be appreciated greatly,

thanks
malissa

Hi Malissa - 1964 is %90 Silver and anything from 1965 to 1970 is 40% silver. Most Roll hunters are looking for Silver.

Hey Malissa! Sounds like fun Here's a link to one (someone please correct me if this isn't a 'main' one - I'm not well versed in Kennedy halves): http://www.webstore.com/Key1974D-Ke...tion_details

So did you ask the teller or did they just offer the info on the halves? Either way, that's very cool

The 1970 D is considered a "key" as it was only issued in mint sets.

thanks everyone. I did not ask if they had halves, but I had mentioned I was getting rolls of quarters for making State Quarter sets and she mentioned the rolls of halves. she also said they had rolls of Ike dollars which will be my next step I guess. lol she said they were "going to send them in" whatever that means but she agreed to hold them for me. I guess it was a return favor as I traded in canadian notes earlier that she kept for herself. :)

The Motto is the best place to look for DDO's. The reverses are heavy in Machine Doubling examples. Here are a few more to look for:

Check each year's examples. Don't just look for doubled dies from just know examples known. You may be spending a new find.

well I got 3 40% halves which is better than nothing. I did find around 10 halves that I will be bringing home with me to have a better look at when there is more time. Just something about them caught my eye so I guesss I better keep them for now.
thanks for the help everyone! only one month to go and I will be home! :)

Check all half dollars around the word "TRUST" - there are a few decent doubled die obverses, all of which are doubled in this area. Some of them are scarce, so they aren't listed just anywhere. I believe one of them is 1973 or 1973D.

Best thing, though, is to check everything - don't just go by a "list".
