So who collects large cents?
All monarchs? Do you pay attention to varieties?

Not so much a collector as per say.. My objective is to get a decent quality example of these varities: 1859 N9 L9 ( Have ) 1859/8 W9 1859 D-P N9#1 1882H Obv 1 1884 Obv 1 1886 Obv 1 1891 SDSL Obv 2 1892 Obv 2 ( Have ) 1894 ( fat 4 ) ( Have ) 1896 Far 6 I would rather have a handfull of nice coins as opposed to a hundred of so so coins that when it came time to sell I would more than likely lose on the hundred so so coins.. but not on the handfull of quality ones.. Yes I look for the varities.. Apparently I do not pay enough attention to the errors.. ( Each one now goes under the microscope )

I collect Canadian large cent coins. I do collect all monarchs but Queen Victoria is my favorite. That is what really got me into collecting large cent was the hunt for varieties there are so many to look for in a lot of different years and still more are being found. I try to find VF and better for varieties they seem to show up better on coins that grade and better less confusion on my part. Great topic

I do not collect them presently but I do have a collection of large cents I assembled a number of years ago,George and Edward in AU,Victoria in VF or better. At the time the only varieties listed in Charlton's were three different '91 reverses. Now I see that the number of varieties that have been discovered is overwhelming and will leave my collection as is for now.

I have trouble with the varieties. I only have 1858 to 1920. Plus just a few extras of the common dates.

I'm more of a small cent guy, though I appreciate the work that many have done on the varieties, and I'm fascinated by the sheer volume of information. I do have a secret thing for 1858's though.

You can count me in on being a Large Cent luver! The following are some examples of the I.C.C.S., Red, Large Cents I currently have in my collection: ***I.C.C.S.,MS-65>1900H,1902,1904,1905,1913,1914,1916,1918 ***I.C.C.S., MS-64>1876H,1887,1888,1890H,1892,1901,1903,1907,1908,1909,1910,1911,1912,1915,1917,1919,1920. All the other missing dates are primarily MS-63's and MS-62's that will eventually be upgraded. Glenn

I absolutely love Canadian large cents, but I'm not one to want to collect every variety. I just want one example of each year (and mintmark) that they were produced between 1858 and 1920.

I collect Canadian large cents and have owned most dates and varieties in the past and still have a lot. I'm still on the trail of my first 1859 brass. I go to a lot of small flea markets and similar sales looking for bargains. I usually find them.
