I scored 3 high relief Peace dollars for "cheap" on ebay this year. I bought one in the spring for 12.99, one about 6 weeks ago for 17.50, and here's the latest one. That scruffy looking 1883 is a CC minted coin. I could pick that up in photoshop, and I asked about the mint marks on the other 2 morgans. http://cgi.ebay.com/5-SILVER-DOLLAR...22_W0QQitemZ370312987958QQcmdZViewItemQQptZCoins_US_Individual?hash=item56385fc536 Chancellor Sutler Edited by Chancellor Sutler 12/31/2009 6:42 pm

Looks like a good deal. Was it a buy it now?

It was a buy it now. Looking at that 1884....and taking the light digit "4" into account...that may be an 84-S. Here's the 83CC reverse. You have to look close, but it's there. Chancellor Sutler

There are a lot of folks who think that there's only junk on ebay, that every lot has been picked over by collectors, that every seller is a collector, and I like to point out to folks that there is nothing set in stone. You just can't approach ebay with all of the negativity that I see. I think folks probably throw all of that out there to discourage people from even looking there. I will say that you have to know at least a bit about what you're doing, and sometimes you'll make a bad decision....but I've done well the past year all things considered. Chancellor Sutler

wow I don't think I have ever seen a 83-CC worn that much. Most of the 830cc's I have seen were BU because they spent most of their life in the vault. I hope you don't think this coin will be the most expensive coin in this lot because even in high MS states a 1883-CC is considered one of the cheapest coins from the CC mint

No, the 83CC is probably a 40 dollar coin in that condition, but the 21 Peace dollar is probably in EF-40, and that may very well be an 1884-S, judging by the weak "4" in the date. Collectively, I'll do well with this lot. Chancellor Sutler

For that price you can't go wrong. It's a $200 lot. The '21 Peace is very unusual in that the obverse looks close to EF with the reverse being 20-30 points lower? Please post some better images of the 1921 after you get it. Congrats!

I've nt gotten an answer from the seller as to mint marks, but if that 84 is and S and it's very possible that it is...especially given 2 other desirable issues being in this lot, then it will eclipse 200.00. I bougth a lot of "6 E Pluribus Unum Coins" back in august....for 89.99 sold off the 1884-S from that lot for 110.00 and kept the other 5, one of which was an 1878 8TF variety. The others were commons, but in EF-AU every one.
I'll post pics as soon as these get here.
