I have been searching ebay a lot and always looking for super deals, mainly due to my lack of money supply. I was curious what everyone's best coin for least money. Pictures would be nice but a brief description would be cool also. Thanks

Matt,

Are you looking to flip for a profit or just add to a collection?

If it's flippin' that's driving you, search for popular varieties/errors. I've picked up some decent ($$$) finds for ($) by studying the Morgan and Peace dollar varieties (VAMs). Most of these came from poor photos on ebay and the ability to download and enhance the photos to ID the variety. This works for other popular varieties listed in the Cherry-Pickers Guide, too.

Here's my best find so far (since I missed the 78-S VAM 18 last weekend). It's an 1880-O Morgan VAM 49, with the 8/7 overdate and Hangnail die gouge on the reverse. Bought for $105 and I could flip for $950+ now ... $2500 if I could get it in a PCGS MS62 holder.

I was thinking just for my collection but now not so sure. I looked into VAMs a little but it seemed pretty confusing. Is there somewhere that I could read up on them?

Matt,

We all start at the same point. Go to VAMWorld.com and see "Morgan VAMs by date" and Peace VAMs by date. It will look overwhelming. There is also a link to the "Top 100". Most of these carry a premium some get moon money. Next click on the discussion pages and see what the VAMmers are talking about. Register and join in if you want. There's a lot available online, but the books and CD's will help immensely if you decide to make the plunge. I started just a bit over two years ago here with a simple 1878 TF VAM 82. SuperDave and Bryan1315 got me started.

I primarily look at 1878-P, 1878-S, 1880-P, 1880-O, 1891-O and 1900-O. Don't hestitate to ask any questions ... I have no VAM secrets.

The best bang for my buck would have to be the GAE proofs I bought in 2008 and sold last fall.

I bought 2 GAE proof sets (1.85oz/ea) in 2008 for about $3,000 total and sold them in Oct. 2009 for $6,300.

I hate to brag again, but for me it would have to be my dollar-bin 1909-S IHC score a couple months ago.

It's hard to beat this if the game is "best bang for A buck". But on the other hand, in raw dollar profit, a lot of you have me beat hands down!

This is probably the one that means the most to me, I paid 15 bucks for it a couple years or so ago in a bottom basement slab. even though it has a rim hit and a small scratch I still love it

I guess if you were talking about most profit made it would be hands down the 1995 GAE set I ordered from the mint in 1995 and it included a 1995-W ASE. The ASE is worth more by itself than I paid for the whole set in 95. I keep it in my safe deposit box but here is one that recently finished on ebay just to let you see what I am talking about http://cgi.ebay.com/1995-W-GOLD-AME...se_W0QQitemZ120508528637QQcmdZViewItemQQptZCoins_Bullion?hash=item1c0ede37fd

This one:

What-Was-The-Best-Bang-For-Your-Buck?

Into the collection, raw from ebay, in a group of 3 I paid $50 for. Out of the collection for north of $500 in an NGC MS63PL holder.

SuperDave's 1921 Morgan is the nicest '21 I've seen!

That is a beautiful coin. One question: What is going on above the cap? That can't be a gouge in a mirror like that!
