After two trips into the little quick store last night, I Came across this. The date, MM, and LIBERTY have doub'ing. Now, LIBERTY may be strike or machine. I'm going to add a light and take a better look at this part. But the date and MM don't show the same.
The extra details are definatly rounded , there is definate notching where it should be, and there is NO change in the shape or size of the numbers where the two overlap as in strike doub'ing. It looks like DD to me. But I don't see any thing about it in my books.
Whats up here? ? Something new and good I hope! I'll work on some better picts later on if anyone wants or see's the need.

no worn die here when a perfect seven under the seven or two under the two with no damage or obscureties to the numbers or letters with the exceptions of notches where the two meet, and secondary lines within the area in question. But what do I know. I've got it wrong so many times, but got it right a few times and it seems to be worth it to look a bit stupid till you learn and I still look a bit stupid.

if it is macchine doubling, wouldn't there be an adverse affect in the design of numbers affected . such as parts being cut off by the second immage?

Sorry to say, but definitely MD; the MM would show no doubling on an actual DDO.

Not on this coin. It's Machine Doubling.

There is a master die doubling situation that effects at least half of all 1972 dated cents and een that doubling is not present.

There is nothing but Machine Doubling visible on the coin.

Thanks,
Bill
