I have a question about American Silver Eagle Bullion coins. Since a Proof version was not released in 2009 and I collect the Proofs but don't want a "hole" in my collection where do I get the bullion version and do they come in the pretty mint packaging and if not can I find pretty packaging online?
Most any dealer can get you a 2009 bullion silver eagle. And I would not think it would be too difficult to locate a capsule and box from a proof eagle that you can put it in. The Mint used to sell the capsules and box for just a few dollars but I don't know if they still do or not. Just searched the Mint website and couldn't find them. But since so many proof silver eagles get sent in for grading I would think the boxes should be available. Just searched ebay, four boxes with capsules selling in the next hour, three auctions selling tomorrow, didn't check any further.
Why not just buy a nice slabbed MS69 ASE? I don't understand why you would want to put a bullion ASE in a mint proof ASE box since none were minted in 2009.
The only ones of those that would come close to matching the proof silver eagle holders are the last three. The first two are too small and the last one is much too big. The next to the last comes closest but it is just the size of a standard silver dollar (no capsule) and the silver eagle is larger than that.
