As some of you may know I work at a bank. I opened up a dimes boxes and they are wrapped in plastic rolls and I will always check out the sides of the rolls when I take them out of the box to see if there is any silver. Usually I will get one silver 1946-1964 silver piece and sometimes I may get a merc. There have been a few times I gotten a lot of silver in a dime box such as 200+ silver dimes in a box... Anyway this box had one 1964 and I saw one of the rolls that kinda had a dark dime and I pulled it out. Here it is: A 1892 dime. I was surprised. :) What would you guys grade it from the pictures?

Wow, that's a nice looking coin! Whoever let that guy into circulation must be pretty mad.

Awesome find!
My bank gets its rolls wrapped in paper; that's what the rolls come in when I order boxes... so I have to unwrap every roll to inspect the edges... and it's a pain!
That said, thanks for the tip. I plan to call around and see if any of the other local banks get their rolls delivered in plastic.

Congrats on the great find! (I should thing about becoming a bank teller...)
It's hard to tell from the photos, but my amateur eyes tell me it's at least in extra fine condition.

Wow - I agree that does look to be at least XF and probably AU judging by the two pics.
Great find!

Driving into work, I thought about this find and it really makes me wonder - how does a coin 128 years old end up in a roll of circulated coins from 1-5 years ago?
It boggles my mind.

Reminds me of when my uncle had the restaurant. He sent me over to the bank across the street from it to get some rolls of change. The 2 rolls of dimes turned out to be all Mercury dimes. He sent me back over to get more dime rolls, and every roll I brought back was a roll of dimes. We wound up with 12 rolls in all, the majority were AU, some UNC, and few VF. He still has them to this day.

Great find, I've only found a few Barber dimes over the years and none in that great of shape.

Thanks for all the comments. I guess now when I open boxes of dimes I have to inspect them more thoroughly (especially on those dark sided coins).
