Imagine the little mail truck struggling down the road with the two front wheels off the ground and the back ones pancaked. Mailman looking through the steering wheel to drive with a real mad look.

Yeah, but at least the shipping is free, can you imagine having to pay for delivery on the other side of the US?

FRB = Flat Rate Box, so shipping is the same whether it's next door or to Hawaii :)

Quote: I have pity for the poor mailman that has to deliver 27 boxes each weighing 75lbs o I've only filled up a flat rate box once, with 68 pounds of copper cents. The clerk at the post office wasnt thrilled. I couldn't imagine walking in there with a pushcart having 27 of them....lol. Not that I would be able to push the cart anyway, but wow...that's some serious weight and bulk.

Quote: is it worth it? 2,000 lbs of cents = 291,715 cents or $2,917.15Copper is $3.0702 per pound, or $6,140.40Auction Price is $4,895.00If melted then Total Gross Profit = $1,245If my math serves me right, and you have the funds to invest in this and you also have the means to have this melted down even with a surcharge for the service....I'd say it's worth it. And you'd have fun searching them too

Quote: Well sure you can. You just have to be sneaky about it Lol true. And you didn't hear this from me, but if they were melted into bars/ingots, how would anyone know that they were originally US copper cents? Especially if the refiner person made them 0.999 pure? :)

How big is the Flat Rate box or one ton?

Quote: Copper is $3.0702 per pound, or $6,140.40 Lincoln cents are 95% copper...so the spot value of the ton is $5833. I don't think much, if any, money could be made on the deal until (unless) copper goes up again. But if could be fun to search!

Flat rate boxes are about a foot cubed. From the picture on ebay a ton of cents looks like about 16 cubic feet.
