AndrewJ, canadian dimes 1920-1967 are 80% silver, with two compositions for 1967, 80/20 silver-copper, and 50/50 silver-copper. For 1968, some dimes minted 50% silver, some just regular composition. If in doubt, use a magnet, silver won't stick.

Quote: Ibab, they had 2010 dime rolls at your bank? I hope you got them for face value. And also what years are silver dimes from canada yes everything was face value, I just got what they had, figured I would check it later and if I didn't want them, I'd just bring it back to another bank. cdn dimes where 1964, 1965, 1960, 1963, 1958, 1963, 1962 I've got myself on the list at 2 other banks for when they have a full bag of dimes. Next step is finding a bank that will give me the coin secure bags to return them in.

Do the coin bags come from the coin counting machines?

Andrew - every bank seems to be a bit different, so check with your bank of choice and see what they say. but most banks bag coins up, send them to the armor car service of their choice, and get back rolled coin from the armored car service, they don't do any sort of processing of the coinage in the branch. too time consuming I presume. some of the rolled coin from the services can still have some interesting stuff in it, I got a few rolls the other day they were in white paper NF String wrappers, but filled with random date jefferson. The Liberty nickels I've found have all come from the coin dump machines. but I haven't searched enough machine wrapped rolls to make much more than a guess.

i see how that works ibab, so do the banks just unwrap all the customer rolls? And do all Brinks rolls are they in the clear plastic wrap?
Also just got another box of CWR! ontop of some clear plastic wraps. let you guys know the turn out!

Some banks I know do unwrap things, others don't and they just push the CWR out the front door when people/business come in looking.
not all brinks rolls are clear. Because I know for a fact that some of the rolls I picked up came from brinks and they were the white paper.

$80 in CWR yesterday netted a nice 1950 Roosevelt, a sail boat, and a surprise: a Cayman Islands 5c piece. It's pretty cool -- dime-sized and has a spiny lobster on the back, of all things.

I think you all might laugh at this. I went to the coin shop today to get some supplies...The owners wife is working the cash register at the time...I pay..she gives me my change back (as this is happening I am thinking to myself that there is no point even looking at the change to check for silver) I get to my car and check the change out of habit..and the owners wife gave me 1959 silver dime! as change! at a coin shop of all places! I went back in to ask if he wanted it back because I felt kinda bad taking it from him as change haha..He said keep it..so thats my third silver dime. Thanks for reading!-Alan
