I picked up six rolls when I was at the grocery store the other day. No silver, but I did get a Canadian piece and my first 2011 dime - D mint.

I checked the next 6 rolls and found a 1951!!

This is really a nice change, I have always been getting Machine wrapped rolls but today I decided to try something new.
I think I am going to stick!

I have been searching dimes for almost 3 years now. I was going through 6-8 boxes a week, minimum. I can honestly say I have averaged 2 dimes a box. It is cyclical. I have had droughts, and then I get boxes with 15 or more.

To the member who is insinuating there is some lying going on.., I'm just going to say that a person can not judge the world based solely on their personal experiences in their little parcel of planet earth.

I searched 2 boxes this evening and found these. Both in the same box. The other was a skunk.

I'll never get tired of Mercury dimes at 10ยข each...

Nice Merc!
I am trying to find a previous type with each denomination, that is, Indian Head penny for cents, Buffalo nickel for nickels (done) merc for dimes, SLQ for quarters, and a Benny for Halves. So far it is harder than one may think. I have no idea when I will find a SLQ.

I have a 1975 Dime with no mint mark on it. Also a 1970 and a few other years. I've read that the 1975 and 1970 with no mint mark are fairly hard to find and am just now getting interested in coins and was wondering if anyone had any knowledge they could share with a newbie...thanks a bunch.

well, the box I talked about on page 59 of this thread, the one in clear wrappers that would have to wait until I got more paper rollers to reroll them with is completed and I am very excited
I edge searched when I got it and opened 2 rolls that had silver (non canadian looking edges)
As can be seen on that page they were a silver roosie and a 1925 Merc
well one of the canadian edges turned out to be a 1968
took a magnet to it because it had a beautiful silver ring to it and she didn't attract!
also I pulled
3 1969 P
2 2009 P
2001 S CLAD PROOF

once again I mean I could be lying like everyone else who finds silver dimes but
3 silver dimes and a proof I love searching dimes
I would say about 75% of the time I get at least 3 silver pieces
box for next week comes in on wednesday as per usual
Take care guys

oh yeah I never use only edge searching because
1) proofs are fairly common and exciting for me to find (I have 12 right now, 10 different dates, all clad)
2) all the Mercury dimes I have found (6 of them) no matter what grade they are in, XF or good, are all
pretty dark to blackish and blended in upon first glance. I found them by searching coin by coin
as a matter of fact one Roosevelt dime I found once was black on the edge
3) I am looking for the missing P 1982 dime and have found a handful of Cuds
fun stuff to search and once again no reason for me to lie

I did my first box of dimes today. Found 3 silvers:

1947
1957 d
1958

that was fun, I got bored halfway through so I started looking at the edges.

I just ordered a box again after a long layoff from Dimes. It's one of the NF String boxes with the paper wrappers, which I prefer since the tellers can't go through and pick out silver like they can with the Brinks rolls in plastic. Wish me luck!

the clear rolls are the only rolls that ever gave me skunk boxes, and when they did they were all new 2010 coins
