That sure is a very uniform pattern of toning on the Morgan in the ebay listing. I have often at some of the toned coins that get slabbed.

Maybe I just don't know enough to tell AT from the real thing. However even in the PCGS slab I would not buy that coin. The toning doesn't look natural to me.

I actually like it. IMO, the toning looks natural. This had to be a quarter pushed up against it.

Well, what defines AT vs. NT? There's nothing to say this coin didn't sit in the proper environment for the proper length of time, with a quarter stacked on top of it. A quarter is the same diameter now as it was in 1880.

I'm ready to buy the toning. It's all a question of what defines "natural."
