i like finding them also, I found another one yesterday a 1998 it has both trails and wavy steps. Not any were as good as this one, the one you found is very very strong. Great find. are you sending to traildies.com for free attributes.

Wow, that's very cool. I have never come across anything like that. What book has info on all of the die varieties? I would like to pick one up. are there more than one for cents or is there a best one to consider?

I never really paid any attention to die trails (except I do look for wavy steps, so I guess that counts), and don't know much about them really. But, that is really cool! I guess I need to study up on them.
Based on the few pictures I have looked at from the website you gave, would that be considered a monster?

Very nice find. Probably not a monster, but a very good one though.

Not close enough Matt. What I'm trying to determine is the split columns on 8, 10, and 12. The split on column 10 is about 3/4s up the column. On my coin the split on 12 has been polished away. Since these splits were produced at the time the die was made, an early die state should show all three.

MRM - That's the best picture I have right now. It might be a couple of days before I can retake them. However, I can say that the split is there on column 8. The split is also apparent on column 10. On column 12, I can make out a very slight imperfection about 3/4 up from the bottom, but it's very faint. I know that I will not be able to pick that up with my camera.
I'll try to get new pictures by the weekend.
Matt
