Pre-Republic Indian coins are part of my favorite coins. I like a lot the thick copper coins.

yes - I do - it's one of the areas I am actively persuing. I would estimate I have about 400 copper and about 200 silver - proably more if you count milled coins as well

i do, my grandmother and grandparents each have big jars in india full of old coins from 1700toearly1900s most and so everytime I go there they let me search and take what I want. I mostly take the 1800s-1940s

Here is an interesting one I picked up recently. India Panna Hauman type 1 paisa 23mm 13.12g. It's a bit worn but the monkey is clearly seen on the obverse.

Yes I have a few. Some dump pieces yet to identify (on my to do list). I've just acquired a 19th c catalog so I should really get on with it but no doubt I'll be posting some pics for others to identify.

I wish I had seen this thread sooner. I absolutely love Indian coins from the directly ruled territories as well as from the princely states. I just really really wish that I could find more British Indian Rupees. They are so few and far between around these parts.

I have Indian and Indian States coins as part of my world collection. Not just "modern India", but going right back through mediaeval times to the ancient Mauryan Empire. My most recently purchased Indian coin was this mediaeval gold pagoda of the Kalachuris, a pre-Islamic state in the western Peninsular area. The coin is attributed to the brief reign of Bijjala II (1156-1168 AD) after he seceded from the disintegrating Chalukya Empire, declared himself king, and captured the old Imperial capital of Kalyani. Unfortunately, I don't have any Indian duplicates for sale or trade at the moment. Sorry, Spock. But I've still got the 1946-47 "tiger" rupee on my wantlist, so if you've got a spare one of those, I'd be interested.
