This is the best one from my grandfathers collection. I have not tried to grade Buffalo nickels yet and have no idea if this is uncirculated or not.

The luster appears to be broken to me, but it's a nice higher AU for sure. I'm not that sharp on Buffalo nickels myself, but I understand that the earlier dates are struck quite differently from those made later.

It does look as if it has a rub on the buffalo's leg and possible on the Indian's braid but it is in excellent shape for a BN.The rubs could be from years in an album so I will say that it is uncirculated IMO.

Not much luster remaining, but the details on this coin look to me to be at least MS-62.

I don't see much wear, not enough for it not to be UNC.

i think the obverse is a 63-64 and the reverse is somewhere around 60-62 so MS 63 I'm gonna say. beautiful coin

Looks to be the slightest and I mean slightest wear on high points (upper ribbon, hair, upper back of buffalo) AU58+ IMO. Very nice coin!

This is why I hate grading buffs. There is so much subjectivity of what is and isn't wear vs softness of the design overall. I want to call the coin UNC, but the braid has such softness in it that it could be considered wear, same for the shoulder on the buff. That said I am going to give the coin the benefit of the doubt and call it an MS-61 with possible album rubs.

Thank you! Seems everyone is having the same issue I was with this. Unc. or Circ? That IS the question. I'm gonna mark it uncirculated on the 2x2 as it will most likely never be up for sale.
