Still trying to get the hang of MDD vs DD. Would these two nickels be considered MDD. Posted is a link to my Photobucket Album for the nickels.

The first has Doubling of Just the N in MONTICELLO. The second coin shows doubling of IN GOD WE TRUST. The coin is a bit worn so I took a pic of the strongest part of the wording showing the doubling. I thought maybe it was from a die shift.

Thank you for your opinions.

The first one looks like Machine Doubling. The second one could be Die Deterioration, but the year and mintmark might help to include/exclude known doubled dies for that year. Wait for the pros opinion on that, though.

Sorry...forgot to put that info in.

The nickel with the dbl "N" is 1998D Jefferson

The nickel with the dbl "IN GOD WE TRUST" is 1975 no mint mark Jefferson.

Thank you,

Sorry, the 89 Nickel is too small to tell anything for sure.
The 95 die deteriation. (Nickels wear the dies quicker because of the nickel in the planchets and the thickness of the planchets.)
