This is a foreign coin my Grandfather had. It has very attractive toning in my opinion.

I have no idea what country it is from, date ect or whether my images are right side up or not.

Thanks,

This is one sen coin. It was struck in 1936 in Japan. The date in the coin shows 11th year of Showa period so this means that this coin was made in 11th year of emperor Hirohito's reign.

The top image is upside down. Nice pix, by the way. The "bone"-appearing object in the top pic is actually the numeral "1" and should be above the symbol ("sen"). Also, many Japanese coins of this period included an image of a chrysanthemum, which appears at the top and bottom of the obverse side of this coin.

I agree - this coin displays very nice toning and is an excellent example of why I tend to prefer bronze coins over other metal, at least for appearance.

An image of a chrysanthemum is a coat of arms of the Japanese emperors.
