I was looking through some of the many coins my grandfather gave me and all of his coins are mostly in jars/medicine bottles and and anything else he can store loose change in, but I found this little sack and when I opened it up I found this 2x2 with a 1932-D Quarter in it. Anyone wanna tell me why he wanted to treat this thing special when all the other coins even the 55 DDO cent I found was just in a jar/ I have added pictures of it, doesn't look like anything special to me maybe someone else can shed some light on it for me

Nice find there Bryan... In F (which is where I would guess. Full Motto, Full Rims, feathers and leaves showing some detail), it should be worth $150-$175 Nothing like the 55 DDO, but still a decent coin.

Wow that is really cool that your grandfather left you his coins! This 32 D is a nice coin and, is a great key washington date.

The ONLY valuable coin I ever found in circulation was a 1932 D quarter!

I wonder if he knew this thing was valuable and thats why he put it in the 2x2 or if that is just the way he got it, because in another bag there was some German Medals that he got when he was in the war and some Indian Head cents and a 1955-S Lincoln Cent in that small sack. I may post a picture of the medal and maybe somene can tell me what it says and what it was given to the soldier that wore it for

Perhaps the date was special to him for one reason or another? If not then he may have had knowledge of the 32-D's rarity compared to other Washington quarters. It is a great find as the older Washington quarters are doing quite nicely in the past few years.

The 32-D and 32-S are the two keys of the Washington quarter series. They have really jumped in price since alot of people started collecting quarters after the State Quarter series came out.

ok here is the medal I found in a small sack that has the words "Army Housewife" on it and an american eagle and its army green in color. Anyway I am just guessing that he got this off of a wounded soldier that he came apon while in the (because he was in the US army not German army)war but that is purely speculation, inside the sack it has alot of german coins also. Here is the pictures of the front and back of the metal in hopes someone can tell me what it was issued for and maybe what the wording on the back says.

This is the Eastern Front medal . The reverse reads "Winterschlact I'm Osten 1941-42" (Winter War in the East 1941-42) awarded to survivors of that first horrible winter in Russia. It was also known by the troops as the "Frozen Meat medal" but it was a highly regarded award in the Wehrmacht. http://www.redmedals.com/products.htm
