I found this ultra thin 1944 cent sorting through a couple of coffee cans of coins left by my mom back in 1980. She tossed these aside from a concession she had in the late 50's early 60's. I think this coin may have stamped on a thin planchet ? There is no one around here that knows hardly anything about coins at all to verify this. What do you guys think ?

I weighed it at 1.2 grams and it is only 3/128 in thick.
Thanks guys

Sorry, don't know how to re-size them so they can be posted with a better appearance.

Your coin has been exposed to acid thus reducing it's size and thickness. Almost all the LWC's like this are from the 40's. Certain folks were trying to use these as a dime in parking meters. It's not an error. I have a couple laying around somewhere. I'll try to find them and post pics.

Thanks. I thought that with the rev being so detailed and lettering present on the obv that it might have been weakly struck. Like I said, it is only 1.2 grams and less than 1/2 the thickness of a normal cent. But it is something to hang on to anyway.
Thanks again

Probably been through too many Coinstars. I found a 1946 under a coinstar last month in Fair-2 condition. It was EXTREMELY thin. - coincrazed

No coin star. This came from a hoard my mom left (coffee cans full) of cents, nickles and dimes. It hasn't been touched since 1981 when I put the box in storage. I just took it out this year to sort because I have the time and my eyes are not gone yet. LOL
