I have not ran a contest in a long time. I was going to wait until my 1000 post, but I can't wait that long.

Over a year ago I ran a contest, where I asked CCF members to guess the number of empty holes in my albums and folders.

This contest is similar, except I am adding in my other hobby, Metal Detecting. So here is the contest...

On 4/30/10 what will be the solution to the following math equation:

(The face value of all coins I have found Metal Detecting) x (The number of empty holes in my folders and albums) = X

Guess the dollar amount X

All forum members are eligible to guess. One guess per day, the closest three members without going over wins a small prize. Contest officially ends at 5 pm EST on 4/30/10. I will do the counting and announce the winners the following morning.

NO HINTS, since I do not know the answer and it will likely change if I dig or make a couple coin purchases before the contest ends.

Each winner will receive a 50 coin roll of Mixed date Canadian Pennies that have been pulled from rolls and pocket change over the years. If anyone guesses the amount exactly, they will also receive a 90% 1964 Half dollar.

So I have found1 sac, 170 cents, 48 quarters, 75 dimes and 25 nickels - Grand total of $23.45 found in a hole.

My Albums Empty holes
Wash Qtrs 3
Canadian Cents 21
Mercury dimes 2
Peace $ 10
State Quarters 0
Franklin halves 0
Liberty Nic 10
Indian cents 43
Lincoln Cents 42
Roosevelt dimes 0
7070 43
President $s 35
Jefferson Nick 51
2 cent/3cn 29

Total empty holes 289

289 x 23.45 = $6777.05

The winners are

deadmunny
Parklane64

Send me a PM with your addresses and I will send out your prizes on Monday.

Thanks to everyone who played.

I guess part of it depends on whether or not the number calculated the face value by dollars, or cents(ie, with $10 face value in coins, do you multiply it by 10, or 1,000?) If by cents, I will guess 47,500.

"Face value of coins" not number of cents.

$10 in coins multiplied by 50 empty holes = 500

or

$3.57 in coins multiplied by 25 empty holes = 89.25

or

$10.27 in coins multiplied by 750 empty holes = 7,702.50

These are examples only
