See the extra thickness at the top curve of the 9 with the small nitch that may/does/would separate the area of interest

I was comparing the 9 to the 9 in a recent post by Vermontensium in ref to his 1936 1DO-002. Do the 9's look simular?

I think it looks like some blunt force trauma on the 9 in the 1958. Compare to another 1958. If the lowest tip of the 9 is sharper than what you have, maybe its a DDO. But I think its just a hit that smashed the device then smoothed out over time.

Looks like a die chip on the inside loop of the 9.

I'll tell ya half the time on the DD I have trouble seeing it. The photography today helps though. You gave us some excellent pics to go by. Maybe next time, keep on looking.

Coop was the first to get it right. It's a small die chip inside the loop of the nine.
